Based on the well established ballistics software JBM and Applied Ballistics (AB), EMAFD has created their own ballistics calculator that implements JBM and AB by:
-
- Takes into considerations the change of air density during flight. Air density is not only adjusted at the shooter location (like JBM and AB) but is updated through-out the trajectory by considering changes in temperature with altitude.
- Uses either the G1 & G7 model or can use customized Cd curves for certain projectiles. From the doppler radar data provided by some manufacturer the CD vs M is obtained. So far only Hornady Target/Match bullets have the customized Cd curves.
- Windage effect considers constant wind or variable wind down the range and what is unique its considers windshear (change of wind velocity with altitude) for different types of surfaces.
- The aerodynamic jump is evaluated from the exact equation by scaling the Cl-alpha/Cm-alpha curve.
The EMAFD shooting calculator is available under request (contac@emafd.com) in MATLAB format until the program is coded in an appropriate format to be uploaded to this page.
