Spinfins are not about surfing normally.  They are about expanding your mind to new possibilities and exploring new lines on the face of the wave.  The fins are 2 1/2 in high and for the surface area available, owing to the curvature, provide an amazing amount of bite.  But the beauty of these fins is to release them and spin, drift, and skate, utilizing a much closer relationship with the energy of the wave.  Best in nothing surf to about head high on a tail with a little bit of width.

Initial feed back from our junior WSL indicate that the center fin (left top figure) when mounted in a Thruster (3 fins) configurations greatly increases the speed of the board allowing higher air-tricks and faster 360 turns

emafd is working diligently with professional local surfers to develop new surf fins that will REVOLUTIONIZE the way of surfing.  The initial fin designs yield to fins that are about 1/2 to 1/3 of the height of traditional fins as compare with traditional fins (FCS, techflex, ventral etc).  The new SpinFins design contain camber as traditional fins but includes curvature of the fin blades to increase the drag/”grasp” on the face of the wave at low speed while maintaining the lift/”side force” at higher velocities.

The SpinFins have being tested to a maximum wave size of double overhead (5-6 feet) and have demonstrated that enables:

• the traditional surfing
• add the possibility of 360 degree turns within the wave face due to the smaller height as compared with traditional fins
• Fins have demonstrated to be efficient for up to a surfer weight of 175 lb.  Above that weight some “slipping” have been observed.
